Believe the Word of the Lord that no matter what’s going on around you or in this wicked world, God won’t let it touch you. Just like He did for Job, He has a hedge of protection surrounding you from dangers seen and unseen. There is no need to fear. You might think that because so many negative things are happening around you that it’s getting closer to your street. Just know that you are covered. Just because tragedy is striking others, doesn’t mean it’s going to strike you. You are safe under Divine protection. Imagine Jesus Christ being your personal Body Guard-the One who healed the sick and raised the dead, conquered death and hell, who said He would never leave nor forsake you! Choose Jesus for your Protector and you will have no need to fear. Let us take the Israelites as an example: the plague that killed all the first born in Egypt was near the Israelites dwelling place but it didn’t enter in. Why? Because they followed the instructions given by God and sprinkled the doorposts with lamb’s blood. There is safety in obedience to God. God will allow you to be a spectator ONLY of the punishment of the wicked, but it won’t touch you. Dwell in the “secret place” and abide under the Almighty’s shadow. There is safety in His arms and know and believe that He has angels protecting you wherever you go. Make the Lord your dwelling place and nothing shall harm you!
Paul said it best in I Cor. 13:11- When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things.
We have no choice but to grow up in a physical sense- from baby to boy, and boy to man, but we have to be mindful of the fact that age doesn’t define maturity. Every old person isn’t wise and every young person isn’t ignorant.
I’ve come to realize that some people grow OLD, but never grow UP! The mind has yet to catch up with the body. Immaturity is not strictly an age thing, but it’s a mindset. One should desire not just to grow up, but to level up- to be mentally well -balanced; sensible; rational.
When you reach the age where your body ceases to grow, remember that your mind has plenty of room available for growth.
So, back to what Paul was saying…. children talk a certain way and their understanding is limited- even the way they think is immature, but a man should not have these childish issues. There comes a time when we have to separate the boys from the men and the girls from the women.
There is a reason why the law requires an individual be a certain age before driving, getting married, working, etc. These are big responsibilities that can’t just be thrown into the hands of a novice.
So, in conclusion- the body has no choice but to grow up, but it’s up to the individual to level up their mind and spirit. It’s time to grow up, think up, build up and level up!
A while ago, I heard my Pastor preach a message entitled, “The Lord did that thing.” To me, it was amazing to find that phrase in scripture. Some of us use that phrase in slang if someone has done an extremely good job at something, but we would say “they did that thang!”
But in this particular scripture, it has a different meaning. God continued to send Pharaoh warnings through Moses to “let His people go”, but Pharaoh would not hearken to the voice of God. Because Pharaoh wouldn’t listen, God touched his cattle and caused a plague. All of Egypt’s cattle would die, and all of Israel’s would live. The appointed time set by God was for the “morrow”, the next day. Exodus 9:5(b) stated: To morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land. And then we arrive at verse 6 where is states, “the Lord did that thing on the morrow.” Exactly what God said He was going to do and how He said He was going to do it came to pass. In this case, it was punishment for disobedience, but every “THING” that God declares He’s going to do isn’t always negative.
There are some “things” God has promised to you and to your children and at the time appointed by God He shall – He will, DO THAT THING!! I ask you on today, What “thing” are you waiting for God to do? What “thing” has God promised you? When He does it, you too can declare that GOD DID THAT THING!!!
In life there have been misunderstandings, break-ups, fights, loss of jobs, etc. because of lack of communication.
I’m sure you’ve heard the expression, “I can’t read your mind”. Well, this statement is true and is basically saying tell me your thoughts and opinions. Even if you have to write it down; let it be known to the person you’re trying to convey it to.
But let’s remember that communication is a two-way street. There is receiving and imparting, giving and taking. Just as well as you are given the opportunity to speak you should also be willing to listen. Selfishness says, “I will be heard, but will not hear.”
A slew of problems could be solved through proper communication. The Lord spoke to the nation of Israel in Isaiah 1:18. He said, “Come, let us reason together.” In other words, “let’s discuss this”. Their sins were like scarlet, but God was letting them know that after this discussion, I will wash you white as snow. You never know what blessing comes from talking it out- the issues that are resolved, the relationships that are restored. How awesome is it that even GOD talks to man!
As I was studying the Word of God on last night something came to me. We esteem people, we speak well of them, but as soon as they error we talk about them, not realizing it could have been us. We, as a body of believers MUST do better. When someone reaches a time of weakness in their life where their spiritual walk needs a boost and their faults begin to show, this is the time to pray for and encourage them.
Galations 6:1- Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness: considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
It was instructed here that first, one must be spiritual to help bring restoration to the fellow brother or sister that’s overtaken in error, sin, fault. Then, it must be done in a gentle manner, but be mindful of yourself as well, because you’re not exempt from being tempted as well.
Don’t kick your brother/sister while they’re down. We all were in need of saving at some point in our lives. How soon some of us forget.
Remember, a just man falls SEVEN times and rises again (Pro 24:16)…..
I’m not talking about a natural death. I’m talking about dying to the flesh. This flesh is very much alive and doesn’t want to be subject to God.
Rom. 8:7 (NASB)- Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so.
The flesh is the enemy of God. It doesn’t submit to God’s law. It can’t. That’s why it must die. Everyday should involve a denying of the flesh. Paul said in 1 Cor 15:31…”I die daily”. (Which is sanctification)
The flesh can’t submit on its own. Belonging to Christ means crucifying the flesh with its passions and desires. (Gal. 5:24)
Jesus said, (Luke 8:24) If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Everyday we wake up is a battle against this flesh. We have to die to the flesh in order to gain eternal life, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Our physical bodies cannot possess the kingdom of God. In this flesh dwells no good thing. (Romans 7:18)
Death is a necessity to bring forth fruit
John 12:24 (ESV)- Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
So I say to you today, JUST DIE!
I was thinking, we read “how to” books, recipe books, self-help books, and the like. But if we would dig into the bible, which is our instruction manual for living holy, we will always have success. Whatever problem, whatever questions we have, there’s an answer in the word of God. The Word of God not only instructs us on how to live holy, but it tells husbands how to treat their wives and vice versa. The bible tells us parents how to “train” our children; It tells Pastors how to lead their flock. People write books based on teachings from the bible. The list goes on and on.
The bible reminds me of a recipe book. What I love about recipe books is there are recipes for main dishes, appetizers, desserts, side dishes and more. There are Mexican dishes, soul foods, Italian meals. Any person that cooks, has a desire to improve their cooking, or wants to learn how to cook can find a recipe in a cook book.
And so the Bible is similar. It matters not your background, gender, race or even religion. If you’re a Believer and have a desire to improve your walk with Christ, learn to live Holy or you just want to learn more of God… study the word of God and you will find what you need.
The Bible is not bias, but in fact is impartial and fair. It is an instruction manual, a recipe book for life, a self-help guide, a journal. It’s non-fiction, though. Everything you read is truth, so believe it and remain teachable always.
There are some very sneaky people in the world. They devise plans for other’s demise because either they have allowed the enemy to use them or out of jealousy and an evil heart they long to see the fall of another.
In the word of God, David knew what it was like to be plotted against, but he also experienced the protection of the Almighty God. He wrote in Psalms 27:2… When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
There is symbolism here. We eat or devour food with our mouth, and that same mouth can be used to devour individuals with ungodly words, lies, gossip, schemes, and the like. Some people are cannibals and don’t even realize it; and as they approach you to devour you God Himself causes them to not only stumble, but fall. People spend time setting traps for others and are snared by what the bible calls “the work of his own hands” (Psalms 9:16).
I recently came to realize that even a spider who is talented in spinning a web, if not careful, can get caught in it’s own web. A rare occasion, but yet it has happened. Job 18:8- For he is thrown into the net by his own feet, And he steps on the webbing.
Let’s remember, the same person that digs a pit will fall into it, and the person that rolls a stone will have it roll back on him/her (Pro. 26:27)
Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity (religious system of rules). The blood of animals was a temporary purification for the flesh.
But then the blood of Christ, pure blood of Jesus through the Spirit of God purges the conscience from dead works to serve the living God. And just because you have a conscience, doesn’t mean it’s pure. According to Titus 1:15, even a person’s conscience can be defiled.
The word “sanctification” is related to the word “saint”; both words have to do with holiness. God instructs us to be holy for He is Holy. We also learn in scripture that Holiness without which no one sees the Lord. We have to be holy, sanctified, pure to go to heaven.
The act of sanctification is a battle. It required the flesh submitting to the will and Word of God and dying to itself. We must die daily. This flesh is stubborn!
Sanctification begins in the mind. The mind is the battleground, the central station where every action first takes place , whether it’s good or bad. Therefore, if you cleanse your mind, your thoughts, then your actions will become clean and pure.
These days we have here on earth are our days of purification. This is the time to get right!
Matters of the heart, issues of the heart, troubles of the heart are all the same. We can deceive others and tell them, “Nothing’s the “matter”, but God knows the Matters of the heart.
A person will laugh and yet have a heavy heart. Not everyone is qualified to deal with the matters of the heart…. But the Word of God is skilled in judging the heart. Everything that the heart thinks and considers is never hidden from the Word.
In a literal sense, “matter” is something that occupies space. My question to you today is, “What’s occupying the space in your heart? What is the “matter” of your heart?” Let it not be evil, malice, revenge, unforgiveness or the like. The heart can be very wicked and harbor ungodly things if we allow it.
Purify our hearts is our prayer on today. Let our hearts be free from hidden things when we cry out to God. Whatever the “matters” of our hearts are, let that space be occupied with God’s love instead.
